Stroke & Turn Clinic

The LSA Swim & Dive Team is proud to offer a Stroke & Turn clinic during our summer swim season. The goal of our clinic is to strengthen, enhance and further develop the skills of the competitive level swimmer.

Coaches Lynn Shields and Dana Meth, both seasoned swim coaches for competitive teams in the area, have structured the program into two levels, Advanced and Intermediate. Both levels have been designed to meet the specific needs and abilities of our swimmers. Placement in either level is based on the swimmer’s ability level, as well as his/her age, and will be determined by Coach Shields and Coach Dana. Please know that our coaches will make every effort to place each swimmer in the most appropriate level to meet his/her individual competitive swimming needs and goals.

Our Stroke & Turn clinic is a one hour session which takes place directly after swim team practice. The clinic focuses on developing and refining stroke technique, starts, turns, and finishes for all four competitive strokes. In addition, we will educate swimmers on strength and dry land training, nutrition, and racing strategies.

If your child is new to the program, the coaches will contact you to make arrangements to evaluate your child’s swimming abilities. Evaluations will take place at the Lawrence High School pool. In addition, the coaches may also ask to evaluate swimmers who have previously participated in the program.

Important Reminders and Dates:
Stroke and Turn registration is due by May 15th.
  • Keep in mind, program end dates are subject to PASDA championship schedules and are confirmed on or after May 31st. 
  • Registration for Stoke and Turn is on a first come-­‐first served basis. Space is Limited!
  • All swimmer evaluations will be scheduled between 4/15 and­ 5/15, if pool time is available. 
  • Swimmer placement will be communicated by 5/15 if evaluations have been completed.
  • Program Payment is due one week after swimmer placement has been determined (5/15).
  • Payment must be received before swimmer may participate in program.
  • Stroke and Turn is open to non-LSA Members, however non-members must register for the LIMITED MEMBERSHIP ($150) in addition to the Stroke and Turn registration.

Stroke & Turn Schedule 2024

Advanced Level:
Session A = $299*
MAY 28th to July 19th (8 weeks)
5/28 - 6/19: Mon - Fri 6-7 pm
6/21 - 7/19: Mon - Fri 9:45-10:45 am

Session B = $199*
6/21 - 7/19 (4 weeks)
Mon - Fri 9:45-10:45 am

If your swimmer is placed in the Advanced level, you may choose to participate in session A or session B.

​If your swimmer is placed in the Advanced Level, they will be required to attend the earlier swim team practice (once morning practice begins) from 8am – 9am.

Intermediate Level:
Session = $199*
6/21 - 7/19 (4+ weeks)
​Mon - Fri 10:30 - 11:30 am

Swimmers placed in the Intermediate level will attend the second morning swim team practice (once morning practice begins) from 9-10am.

*Non-Members MUST also purchase a Limited Membership at a cost of $150 to participate.
