Swim Pants for Baby Pool Waders

Our Baby Pool is available to children who are not potty-trained. Only potty-trained children may swim in the Main Pool, unless the Baby Pool is closed for servicing. Please observe the following board-approved policy:

  • Children under the age of 3 and any swimmers who are not potty-trained must wear proper swim pants with snug-fitting elastic legs and waists. A swim suit may be integrated with or worn over the rubber or vinyl swim pants. Children should not wear anything under the swim pants. Reusable swim pants are highly recommended, as disposables rarely afford proper protection.

  • A guardian should be within arms-length of children and will be held accountable for those children.

  • Pool time for infants and toddlers should be frequently interrupted for potty breaks. Such breaks also serve to prevent hypothermia.

  • NEVER swim if there is any risk of diarrhea.

  • Lifeguards have the authority to deny wading privileges to non-potty-trained children whose swimwear does not appear safe.

  • Children over 8 should not be playing in Baby Pool unless attending to a younger sibling.

We can not emphasize enough the importance of "touch supervision." You should be in contact with your child at all times. Also, NEVER wear standard disposable diapers into the pool. You must purchase swim pants or tight fitting vinyl pants that are designed to satisfy State Regulations for swimming pools.

If you have any concerns or questions about this policy, please contact the Board at info@LSAswimclub.org.

Swim Pants with Elastic
Sample Swim Pants
with nylon coated lining
and tight elastic bands

Swim pants/diapers with poor elastic banding (like Huggies Little Swimmers) don't do much to contain anything. In fact, if worn under proper swim pants, it may actually reduce the effectiveness of the swim pants, because it defeats the elastic band. You can see examples of recommended swim pants at:

Swim Pants with Elastic
Swimpants are not Diapers
They are non-absorbent and are primarily designed to contain poop.
