Management Positions

Pool Manager Assistant Pool Manager

Pool Manager

Description: Seasonal / Full Time / Salary based on experience
The Pool Manager serves as the senior member of staff for the Lawrenceville Swimming Association (LSA) and is responsible for the supervision, administration and maintenance of LSA's aquatic facility and all safety and medical devices. This includes protecting the lives and well being of everyone using the aquatic facility, managing the Lifeguards, and maintaining the cleanliness and optimal functionality of the swimming pool, building, and grounds. The Manager handles payroll, orders all supplies as needed, and handles relationships with outside vendors. The Manager ensures that members are provided with safe, clean, fun, relaxing and recreational opportunities in a spirit of customer service. The Manager reports to the LSA Board of Directors, specifically the Chairman and/or a designated Board Member.

The Manager is salaried to work from May 15th to September 15th. This involves a schedule that includes:
1) a minimum of 40 hours per week from the opening weekend until September 3rd,
2) five work days per week including at least one Saturday or Sunday (two exceptions per season), and
3) at least 2 holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day).

Qualification: The Manager must be very organized, and have demonstrated management, supervisory and communication skills. Must have excellent judgment when balancing the desires of the membership and the needs for safety within the scope of policy set by the Board. Must have a customer service mentality that includes anticipating and acting on the needs of the membership. Additionally, the Manager must be at least 21 years of age and hold the following certifications:
1. Certified Pool Operator (NSPF) or Pool Operator on Location (YMCA)
2. American Red Cross Lifeguarding
3. American Red Cross Community CPR or Professional Rescuer, or American Heart Association CPR (level B or C). Course must include use of AED.
4. Standard First Aid


Assistant Pool Manager

Description: Seasonal / Full or Part Time / Salary based on experience
The assistant manager, in addition to lifeguarding duties, will be responsible for pool facilities, operations, and policy management under the guidance of the pool manager. As second in command, the assistant manager is expected to be a leader capable of carrying out all the duties of the pool manager.

Qualification: The Assistant Manager must have demonstrated management, supervisory and communication skills. Must have excellent judgment when balancing the desires of the membership and the needs for safety within the scope of policy set by the Board. Must have a customer service mentality that includes anticipating and acting on the needs of the membership. At least 1 year of lifeguarding experience is mandatory, ideally more. Additionally, the Assistant Manager must be at least 18 years of age and hold the following certifications:
1. Certified Pool Operator (NSPF) or Pool Operator on Location (YMCA) - or at least enrolled in a class if not currently certified.
2. American Red Cross Lifeguarding
3. American Red Cross Community CPR or Professional Rescuer, or American Heart Association CPR (level B or C). Course must include use of AED.

Lifeguard Positions

Lifeguard

Description: Seasonal / Part Time / $7 to $11 per hour based on experience
Working under the direction of the Pool Manager and/or Assistant Manger, a Lifeguard is responsible to protect the lives and well being of individuals using the Lawrenceville Swimming Association (LSA) Aquatic Facility, and maintain the aquatic facility to ensure the maximum welfare, safety and enjoyment of the LSA members. Lifeguards will be asked to maintain a clean, orderly environment, interact with members of all ages, and provide frequent assistance with recreational activities and concessions. Lifeguards may also offer private swim lessons when not on duty and can apply for coaching and instructional positions as well.

Qualification: The Lifeguard must have demonstrated maturity, sound judgment, good working habits, clear communications skills, and must have and maintain a level of good physical fitness. Additionally, the Lifeguard must be at least 15 years of age and hold the following certifications:
1. American Red Cross Lifeguarding or YMCA Lifeguarding
2. American Red Cross Community CPR or Professional Rescuer, or American Heart Association CPR (level B or C). Course must include use of AED.
3. Standard First Aid

Head Swim Team Coach

Description: Seasonal / Part Time / Salary based on experience
The Head Swim Team Coach will supervise the other Swim Team Coaches, organize and execute team practices and meets, represent the Team at League Meetings (PASDA), and work with approximately 75 to 110 LSA Team swimmers aged five to seventeen throughout June and July. The Head Swim Team Coach is responsible for ensuring the development of each individual swimmer while encouraging sportsmanship, healthy competition, and attendance at meets. The Coach is expected to support the discipline of regular swimming practices consisting of technique demonstration and drills along with a heavy dose of age-appropriate motivation, encouragement and fun.

The Head Coach is salaried to work from the day after Memorial Day through the last week in July, plus up to four pre- or post-season meetings. This involves a schedule that includes:
1) weekday practices for approximately 8 weeks (typically 120 minutes each),
2) approximately 6 evening meets starting at 5pm (typically Tue or Thurs),
3) an all-day championship meet in late July, and
4) at least one weekend meet, usually the weekend following the 4th of July Holiday.

Qualification: The ideal candidate for Head Swim Team Coach has a commanding and motivating presence, a deep understanding of stroke & turn mechanics, a talent for teaching and an instructional vocabulary that can span the needs of kids age 5 to 17. The Head Coach also has a huge heart, strong team leadership skills, and proven organizational skills for planning and scheduling 100+ swimmers across 20+ events. The Head Coach must be capable of directing a small coaching staff and supervising 100+ kids every weekday. Previous swim team involvement is mandatory. A minimum of a two year history of participation on a competitive swim team and a minimum of a two year history teaching swim lessons or school is preferred.

Additionally, the Head Swim Coach must hold the following certifications:
1. American Red Cross Lifeguarding or Safety Training for Swim Coaches
2. American Red Cross Community CPR or Professional Rescuer, or American Heart Association CPR (level B or C). Course must include use of AED
3. Standard First Aid

Optionally but preferably, the Head Swim Coach should hold the following certifications:
1. American Red Cross WSI or equivalent training
2. Appropriate (AAU, USA Swimming or YMCA) Coaching Certification


Assistant Swim Team Coach

Description: Seasonal / Part Time / Salary based on experience
The Assistant Swim Team Coach is supervised by the Head Swim Team Coach while working with approximately 75 to 110 LSA Team swimmers aged five to seventeen throughout June and July. The Assistant Coach is responsible for working with the Head Coach to ensure the development of each individual swimmer while encouraging sportsmanship, healthy competition, and attendance at meets. The Assistant Coach is expected to support the discipline of regular swimming practices consisting of technique demonstration and drills along with a heavy dose of age-appropriate motivation, encouragement and fun.

The Assistant Coach is salaried to work from the day after Memorial Day through the last week in July, plus up to four pre- or post-season meetings. This involves a schedule that includes:
1) daily weekday practices for approximately 8 weeks (typically 120 minutes each),
2) approximately 6 evening meets starting at 6pm (typically Tue or Thurs),
3) an all-day championship meet in late July, and
4) at least one weekend meet, usually the weekend following the 4th of July Holiday weekend.

Qualification: The ideal candidate for Assistant Swim Team Coach has a motivating presence, an understanding of stroke & turn mechanics, a talent for teaching and an instructional vocabulary that can span the needs of kids age 5 to 17, a huge heart, team leadership skills, and proven organizational skills. The Assistant Coach must be capable of supervising 100+ kids and serving as the Head Coach when required. Previous swim team involvement is mandatory. A minimum of a two year history of participation on a competitive swim team and a minimum of a two year history teaching swim lessons or school is preferred.

Additionally, the Assistant Swim Coach must hold the following certifications:
1. American Red Cross Community CPR or Professional Rescuer, or American Heart Association CPR (level B or C). Course must include use of AED.
2. Standard First Aid

Optionally but preferably, the Assistant Swim Coach should hold the following certifications:
1. American Red Cross Lifeguarding or Safety Training for Swim Coaches
2. Appropriate (AAU, USA Swimming or YMCA) Coaching Certification.


Junior Swim Team Coach

Description: Seasonal / Part Time / Salary based on experience
The Junior Swim Team Coach is supervised by the Head Coach while working with approximately 75 to 110 LSA Team swimmers aged five to seventeen throughout June and July. The Junior Coach assists the other coaches to ensure the development of each individual swimmer while encouraging sportsmanship, healthy competition, and attendance at meets.

The Junior Swim Coach is salaried to work from the day after Memorial Day through the last week in July. This involves a schedule that includes:
1) frequent weekday practices as scheduled by the Head Coach,
2) approximately 6 evening meets starting at 5pm (typically Tue or Thurs),
3) an all-day championship meet in late July, and
4) at least one weekend meet, usually the weekend following the 4th of July Holiday weekend.

Qualification: The Junior Swim Team Coach must have demonstrated leadership qualities, an enthusiasm for team effort, and good communication skills. Previous swim team involvement that demonstrates a mastery of strokes is mandatory.

Optionally but preferably, the Junior Swim Coach should hold the following certifications:
1. American Red Cross Community CPR or Professional Rescuer, or American Heart Association CPR (level B or C). Course must include use of AED.
2. Standard First Aid


Head Dive Team Coach

Description: Seasonal / Part Time / Salary based on experience
The Head Dive Team Coach will be responsible for coaching and directing approximately 10 to 20 team participants aged five to seventeen. The Coach is responsible for ensuring the development of each individual diver while encouraging sportsmanship, healthy competition, and attendance at meets. The Coach is expected to support the discipline of regular diving practices consisting of technique demonstration and drills along with a heavy dose of age-appropriate motivation, encouragement and fun.

The Head Coach is salaried to work from the day after Memorial Day through the last week in July, plus 1 pre-season and 1 post-season meeting. This involves a schedule that includes:
1) daily weekday practices for approximately 8 weeks (typically 1 hour),
2) approximately 4 evening meets starting at 5pm (typically Mon or Wed),
3) an all-day championship meet in late July

Qualification: The ideal candidate for Head Dive Team Coach has a professional and motivating presence, a deep understanding dive mechanics, a talent for teaching and an instructional vocabulary that can span the needs of kids age 5 to 17, a huge heart, strong team leadership skills, and proven organizational skills. The Head Coach must be capable of organizing all aspects of a dive meet, and supervising 10+ kids. Previous dive team involvement is mandatory. A minimum of a two year history of participation on a competitive dive team and a minimum of a two year history teaching dive lessons or school is preferred.

Optionally but preferably, the Head Dive Coach should hold the following certifications:
1. American Red Cross Community CPR or Professional Rescuer, or American Heart Association CPR (level B or C). Course must include use of AED.
2. Standard First Aid
3. Appropriate Coaching Certification (AAU, USA Diving or YMCA).

Swim Instructor Positions

Youth Swim Instructor Stroke & Turn Instructor

Youth Swim Instructor

Description: Seasonal / Part Time / approximately $15 per hour
The aquatics instructor will be responsible for organizing and teaching group swim lessons and water safety for beginner swimmers and children looking to become swim team participants. As a certified teacher, the aquatics instructor is expected to create, schedule and manage a program that effectively helps children reach the next level in their mastery of swimming.

Qualification: The ideal candidate for Youth Swim Instructor has a good understanding of stroke mechanics and an excellent rapport with children and their parents. Solid organizational skills are required for scheduling classes, grouping students, and preparing lessons plans. The instructor speaks with an instructional vocabulary appropriate for children aged 2 to 8 and is enthusiastic, motivating, nurturing, and fun. Depending on needs, the instructor may manage additional instructors.

Qualifications:
(1) American Red Cross WSI or equivalent training.


Stroke & Turn Instructor

Description: Seasonal / Part Time / Negotiable
The Stroke and Turn Instructor is reponsible for organizing and leading a daily clinic for stroke refinement/improvement that will help good swimmers become the best they can be. Participants in the clinic are expected to be knowledgeable of the mechanics of at least 3 strokes. The clinic will be offered daily in June and July.

Qualification: The ideal candidate for Stroke & Turn Instructor has a professional and motivating presence, a deep understanding stroke mechanics, and a talent for enthusiastic teaching. Proven organizational skills are required to manage daily lessons and a dozen or more kids at at time. The instructor speaks with an instructional vocabulary appropriate to the needs of children aged 6 to 17.

Qualifications:
(1) American Red Cross WSI or equivalent training
(2) At least 2 years experience as an instructor for advanced swimmers
