Thank you for your interest in the Lawrenceville Swimming Association. You can download our membership application, including information about bond, initiation, and membership fees. You can also review our Rules and Regulations. Please note that applicants and members must be residents of Lawrence Township, NJ.

LSA is a private, cooperative swim club of approximately 175 families established in 1960, and located on Craven Lane in Lawrenceville, NJ. We are open Memorial Day through Labor Day each year.

We enjoy a competitive-sized pool, with lap lanes, wading area (from 2 ½ to 3 ½ feet deep), and a diving well. LSA also has a separate, fenced-in shallow wading pool for infants, and younger children. The bathhouse facilities include rest rooms, showers, and dressing areas, while the fenced, grassy grounds include playground equipment, picnic tables, and shuffleboard courts. Lounge chairs and umbrellas are provided for members. A professional manager and staff supervise the pool and its activities.

LSA has several ongoing activities for the benefit of its members. The swim and dive teams compete with local swim clubs, while the lifeguards offer swimming lessons to children. In addition, a variety of social events are planned throughout the season, catering to people of many different ages. Since we are a cooperative club, members are expected to contribute several hours of work at the club each season. This participation can be met in many different ways.

Membership requires a $35 non-refundable application fee, and later, upon acceptance, a one-time $100 initiation fee and the purchase of a bond, currently valued at $750. This bond represents a member's share of the club's capital investment, and is redeemable (under the conditions of the bylaws) if membership is terminated. In addition, there are annual dues that cover the operating budget (currently $600 plus $50 per child). You are encouraged to bring guests ($4 for adults, $2 for children) and even host your own parties on-site.

Once your application and fee are received, you will be placed on our waiting list, and notified when your membership comes up for approval. If you move, or are no longer interested in LSA, please notify us so we can remove your name from the list.

Please contact us at info@LSAswimclub.org if you have any questions, or would like additional information. You can also call our membership coordinator, Kirsten Gesenberg, at 609-620-1748.

Frequently Asked Question:
I would like information on the types of membership that you offer. Some friends of ours had some sort of limited membership where they were not eligible to bring guests. How many families are currently on the waiting list? Does this also include the limited membership or is there a separate waiting list for that membership as well? What are the fees?

Answer:
Our wait list currently contains 15 families. Each year we expect 15 members to resign, as well as a few families to drop off the wait list. Consequently, we typically expect the wait list to move about 20 slots per season. Waitlisted families in slots 30 and higher are not expected to be offered membership for the upcoming season.

LSA no longer offers "season privileges" to families on the waitlist. In the past, LSA allowed a few families on the waitlist an opportunity to enjoy most club privileges for a single season without becoming a member. This program has been discontinued.

All waitlisted families have the option to enroll their children in beginner Swim Lessons or to sign up for the competitive Swim or Dive teams. The goal is to encourage a smooth transition into membership. Children can learn to swim or participate in practices, competitive meets, and award ceremonies. Such families would not be eligible to use club facilities except during scheduled lessons or team activities.

The annual fee for members is currently $600 plus $50 per child. Swim & Dive Team is $60 per child for one team, $95 for both teams. Waitlisted families without season privileges are eligible to have their children join the Swim & Dive Teams at a fee of $145 per child. Swim lesson fees are typically $35 for 10 group lessons.

Once a family on the wait list is offered a full membership, they must make a choice: join the club or be removed from the list entirely. The cost to join is a $100 initiation fee, plus the purchase of a $750 bond that represents a share of ownership. The bond maintains its value and will be bought back by a new member when a current member resigns. Should the club dissolve, the bond may be worth considerably more or less.

To apply for membership, you can download the form above and send it in along with a $35 fee. We look forward to hearing from you.
